If you're planning to spend winter in the Caribbean, St Maarten to be exact, then you're going to benefit from an added carrier option as Panama's Copa Airline plans to operate four weekly flights to St Maarten. This is according to a report from the St Maarten Ministry of Tourism.
The announcement (July, 2019) of the flights, set to increase in December, came after a meeting at Copa's headquarters in Panama city with St Maarten's tourism minister, Stuart Johnson and Copa's CEO Pedro Heilbron.
According to the report, this was a very important meeting for stakeholders, especially St Maarten, because Copa Airlines is the only Latin American carrier which flies to the Dutch Caribbean island.
Increasing flights to the destination will be very instrumental for the future long-term development of the St Maarten tourism industry, and the increase to four weekly flights will definitely help increase St Maarten's market share in the Latin American market.
