This US-based online travel agency in operation since 1989 is among the early adopters of digital currency as a mode of payment for travel.

As early as 2013, CheapAir made the bold decision to accept bitcoin as flight ticket payments.

In 2019, CheapAir announced that it would also enable users to pay for travel with Ethereum.



CheapAir offers a range of services including, Easy and Voice Search, which makes searching for travel options on their website simple and more intuitive.

It also provides users with details about in-flight services, such as whether a carrier offers Wi-Fi, movies, or live TV.

It also has a Price Drop Payback program, which enables customers who found a lower rate for the same coach ticket before their flight to get reimbursed for the fare difference.

Bitcoin.travel

Since 2011, Bitcoin.Travel has enabled cryptocurrency as a payment method for flight booking, hotel accommodations, and even car transfers and rentals.

Despite its name, Bitcoin.Travel, the company markets itself as “the leading Ethereum-friendly accommodation booking platform.”

Aside from allowing users to pay for travel with Ethereum, it also accepts a wide range of other digital currencies such as Binance Coin, Cardano, Dogecoin, XRP, Tether, Polkadot, Litecoin.

Travelbybit is an Australia-based travel booking portal that prefers cryptocurrency as payment for its services.

While it also accepts credit card payments, Travelbybit primarily deals in Ethereum, Bitcoin, Litecoin, and BUSD since its inception in 2017.

Their platform also allows merchants in Australia to accept different digital currencies.

Destinia

Destinia is a Spain-based international hotel, flight, and overall travel agency founded back in 2001. At present, it is one of the five largest travel agencies in Spain and began accepting Bitcoin as early as 2014.

Founded in 1995, airline company airBaltic is among the most recent adopters of ETH, allowing its customers to pay for travel with Ethereum only last March 2021.

While being among the first airline companies to accept Bitcoin back in 2014, airBaltic has expanded its accepted currencies to Binance and even Dogecoin.

Not only can users pay for travel with Ethereum, but they can also access in-flight services and its frequent flyer program with ETH and other digital currencies.

A service developed in the Etherium platform, it recently created its own cryptocurrency, XcelToken. The platform also allows travelers to pay for travel with Ethereum, bitcoin, and other digital currencies.
